Little Italy is a neighborhood in Downtown San Diego, was originally a predominately Italian fishing neighborhood. Named after the Italian American immigrants who settled and made a living from the fishing industry, Little Italy thrives today to provide its residents and visitors with plenty of attractions.
It has since been gentrified and now Little Italy is a scenic neighborhood composed mostly of Italian restaurants, Italian retail shops, home design stores, art galleries, and residential units. India Street is lined with restaurants featuring cuisines of both Southern and Northern Italy, including Sicilian dishes served with a modern flair.
